Vishal D. Prajapati is the founder and lead engineer of VDPE, a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York, with over 18 years of experience encompassing engineering research, building design, & construction administration.

In addition to his passion for the building sciences, energy conservation and sustainability is another core area of interest for Vishal. Buildings currently use nearly 40% of all U.S. energy and 76% of all U.S. electricity. Beyond providing functional engineering solutions, Vishal feels it is imperative that engineers account for the realities of climate change. Utilizing the latest in building technology and design options, he aims to provide energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and low carbon footprint design solutions. This philosophy and approach are win-win for all parties as a focus on energy efficiency also yields owners and operators long-term operational cost savings and a healthier, more sustainable, future for users and the public in general.

Vishal’s passion for engineering and the sciences developed early in life and honed during his formative years at Polytechnic University (now known as NYU Tandon School of Engineering) where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. A lifelong New Yorker, prior to university, he completed his high school education at Brooklyn Technical High School. Educated in Brooklyn and growing up in Queens, Vishal aims to play his part in making New York strong and resilient, giving back to the city which shaped his life and career.
